Xbox Live's Major Nelson has revealed Visceral Games' Dead Space gap filler, Dead Space: Ignition, a text-based comic-book presented game that sets the scene for Dead Space 2.

Dead Space Ignition is the prologue to Dead Space 2, in which you must survive the initial Necromorph outbreak on the Sprawl. The game blends an interactive comic presentation of the story with three unique hacking games—Hardware Crack, System Override, and Trace Route. You'll also receive unlocks in Dead Space 2, including an exclusive suit for Isaac Clarke.

No word on the PSN date yet, or again, if it will make its way to Steam, but Xbox 360 owners can nab it for 400MS Points (AU$6.60) from October 13.
