As noted on Gamespot and several other places:
Beleaguered developer pulls the plug on its pay-to-play online shooter less than three months after launch; servers remain up for time being.

Realtime Worlds' online shooter APB was in development for more than five years but is having the plug pulled on it after less than three months. In a post on the game's official forums, community officer Ben Bateman announced that, "despite everyone's best efforts to keep the service running, APB is coming to a close."

APB's servers are up at the moment, giving players a chance to say their good-byes to the crime-riddled city of San Paro. In a post on his Twitter feed, Bateman said the servers would be turned off "tonight."

I guess releasing a buggy, half finished game doesn't work, huh? That and not even wanting to release it in certain places like Australia and NZ.

When this was first announced it sounded like something I was interested in playing this but, like I said, not releasing it here made me not want to play it.promoted/edited forum item

3 months! Jesus Christ...

People who bought (or just bought) the game must be raging. The least they could do would be to release the server code and source for the game.

As they are in administration they haven't got any control over that sort of thing. There is rumours Epic may buy them out though.

Bahahaha eat shit and die Realtime Worlds.

Ladies and gents, this is why you shouldn't develop AND publish AND distribute your own titles.

Must of been a real gem of a game if it's burnt down already. Even Age of Conan lasted longer.

actually, of all the MMO's to sink or end up turning f2p Conan is still going strong and still has a subscription model I think?

Wow that was quick, and I thought Hellgate: London went down fast. Man I miss that game....
