If you nabbed the Green Day Rock Band demo off Xbox Live, chances are you've seen the Harmonix teaser for Rock Band 3 which hints at the inclusion of keyboards and harmony vocals thanks to some clever icons next to the game's logo.

It's no secret this budding genre has spent its life expanding to as many facets of music since inception, so adding keys and more vocals would, of course, be a bit of a no-brainer, but it once again means updating your kit with even more peripherals; clogging up your home-entertainment space and requiring the acquisition of even more musically-minded friends. Next thing you know we'll be looking at London Philharmonic Orchestra Rock Band.

I bet it's essentially going to be like beatmania, hitting a few select buttons.

Keyboardmania was so bullshit hard that it would be completely unappealing to GH/RB players.

i don't get how they would add keyboards to all the other songs that are out there, or do they split the market and have keyboard specific songs?

would be sweet if you could connect via midi, a full size weighted keyboard to use :D would be fun to learn on... Wonder if the next GH will follow suite...

Hrmm, I probably would buy a Rock Band: Billy Joel if it had keyboards. In fact, I would definitely buy that.

as long as it takes the focus from the dumb guitar peripherial.
rock band, guitar hero et al = fail.
best thing was the addition of drums and singing.
billy joel, elton john and ben folds on the keytar, playing one note lines (because playing the actual piano parts on a keytar for most of these guys songs would be impossible as they are 2 hand parts) sounds half assed and will probably please non-musician types but.

actually scratch that. there is nothing plausible about rock band or guitar zero.
to the point that this is how i finished my last ever game on the faggot drumkit which does nothing to simulate actual drumming.

the guitars are next.

It does a bit to simulate real drumming, I mean sure its nothing like ACTUALLY playing the drums, but at least you need to be able to keep a beat and get your limbs going independantly. Looks like you just raged cos you fail.

These games are fun, if you can't accept them as a bit of harmless fun, your loss.

^ cor anglais would be sweet as well.

anytime i relax and add some natural feel, it glitches and fucks up.
too rigid for me. works well for the metal songs i guess.
and yeah the rage was from trying to fix the thing.

Yeah, tbh, I haven't actually tried the GH drum set, I've just used the rock band one, and I actually modded my rock band one to make it better anyway so I can't even really compare that to someone's experience with a stock kit.

But I've been plaiyng through the Beatles game recently, and its pretty sweet, awesome presentation too.

Yeah thats probably the most annoying thing to me, as I play real drums, its hard to get a groove going and have to concentrate way more than just jamming along with a band.

OK for certain songs like Metal stuff that is usualy pretty straight up with the beat.
