Tim wrote in to let us know that EB Games are apparently offering StarCraft 2 beta keys to anyone that orders the game before May 17th. If you were one of the many that missed out on a beta key in in our recent StarCraft 2 competition then this is probably the easiest and simplest way for you to get into the beta and give this game a taste - and face it, you're probably going to be buying it anyway, so you might as well get part of it out of the way now.

Nice bonus, although I don't have much choice but to get it from EB online. I want the CE box to go with my other Blizzard ones, but don't know if I'll be in Brisbane or Hobart when SC2 comes out. Figure it's worth the extra $$ to save some hassle.

pre-ordered mine yesterday from GAME. $79 online price. Wasn't too much to ask, i think it's a fairly good price. Plus, I get a beta key. :D

Wouldn't surprise me if they opened the beta now. Yesterday they did a full reset of the Beta to "simulate" launch date, if they are at the point of load testing battle.net an open beta would be the next obvious step.

This is true went to Chermside EB Games yesterday and they said they need $50 deposit on the collectors edition

Its not like you're throwing that $50 away though, its $50 towards the actual game, so when you go in and pick it up when it comes out, you pay $50 less. They did the same thing for the WoW collectors editions, and the Halo 3 legendary editions, its just cos they have limited stock and they want to ensure that the people who are pre-ordering them are serious about getting them.

d^ did you have any luck ordering the collectors edition from amazon?
It told me i can only be on a notifcation list.
I'm strulling to find the CE to buy from anywhere.. :(
