Continuing the support for their acclaimed fantasy RPG, EA and BioWare have released another patch for Dragon Age: Origins, now available for all platforms.

Here's the changelog:
  • Various changes have been made to code and resources to support the Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening expansion pack. Most of these changes do not affect Origins itself.
  • Some players were experiencing increasingly long load times. A major cause of this problem has been fixed.
  • At higher levels, non-player characters now receive a bonus to armor penetration. This mitigates an unintentional imbalance with well-armored high-level characters, since armor penetration previously did not scale as aggressively as armor itself did.
  • Elite-rank enemies (lieutenants) can no longer be shattered. This preserves the intended tactical design of many combat encounters.
  • Portraits for summoned creatures (like a ranger's wolf) were displaying improperly while in the party camp. This no longer occurs.
Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners can find this one of their respective online services and PC gamers can download it right here on AusGamers.

Chiming in to give this neglected Dragon Age thread some love:
Is anyone still playing DA:O? I kinda lost interest just before the end of the game about halfway through the final big siege but meaning to pick it back up again so that I can keep going with the imminent DLC.

Also:

Awww. Party's over :(

I stopped playing after the first playthrough. I've intended to go back and try some different combos in another run (or even give the DLC a burl) but just never quite got there.

Holy shit

Yeah, Hogfather, yahtzee said the same thing in the zero punctuation review. I think multiple character types seem to be intended for multiple play throughs but most people will just go through the game once and then perhaps do each origin story by itself.

I'm halfway through my second play through as a Dual wielding warrior. its great compared to my rogue, who kinda sucked.

Played it through twice when it first came out, first as a 2h warrior and second time through as a mage. Thought about a third time around as a rogue but I was pretty much over it by that stage.

I don't think I'll be picking up the expansion any time soon either, too many new games out now or about to come out. Maybe when steam has it on one of its big sales.

I've played it through one and two half times. My first play through I wasn't happy with where I ended and went back to a previous save to try and fix it up which was actually waaaay back and never got around to finishing. Then I tried playing a different character/gender/race and pretty much stopped playing again halfway through.

If it didn't have the load screen issues and had more entertaining combat I reckon I'd have been able to finish my two play throughs but as it is I don't think I can be bothered getting back into it even with the load times fixed. But who knows, the expansion might be enough to suck me back in.

I'm just about done with my second playthrough as a blood mage/arcane warrior. It's so fun as a mage in massive armor with a sword and shield. I can solo just about anything.

This is probably my problem - I was super happy with my AW on the first playthrough that I haven't had a lot of desire to go back!

If I go back to it, I plan to stick it on Easy and stop pressing pause, liven the game up a bit :)

Got bored being overpowered on my 2nd playthrough on nightmare, there was only so many rooms you can blow up in 3 moves before you get bored of it. Least it got more playtime than ME2... can barely get through the first bits on 2nd playthrough without falling asleep.
