Funcom are trying to lure old Age of Conan players who may have strayed, back to the fray with some pretty neat incentives.

It's clearly a plea to repopulate their game-world, but if you previously played the game, you're now invited to come back and play it for two weeks free, with double XP applying for that time period. Funcom are also promising anyone who does come back, guaranteed access to their forthcoming beta run for their next game, "The Secret World".

It all sounds very much like an ex-partner offering you the world after a break-up, but with words such as "free" and "double XP" being thrown around, it's hard to ignore.

This game ruined my faith in mmo's, i was willing to sit through all the bullshit and wait for the game to be patched to a playable standard... but by the time that occured all the players left.

I was one of the people who pissed off back at release cos it was so unplayable.
I went back a few months ago and they have improved alot.
If its improved enough to justify a subscription is another question but.

If you choose to purchase additional gametime during this campaign period, you will receive:
Subscribe for 1 month and get one week of additional gametime for free
Subscribe for 3 months and get guaranteed access to the closed beta test of The Secret World + the reward above*
Subscribe for 6 months and get the Hyrkanian Headguard, an epic armor piece with a 10% XP boost + all rewards above
Subscribe for 12 months and get the Rise of the Godslayer expansion for free + all above**

But that is not what you wrote.

Funcom are also promising anyone who does come back, guaranteed access to their forthcoming beta run for the expansion "The Secret World".

This means "Anyone who comes back is guaranteed access to their forthcoming beta for the expansion "The Secret World"".

Now I'll lay some knowledge on you;

The Secret World is a completely different MMO to Age of Conan.
Rise of the Godslayer is the expansion for Age of Conan.

Now the info I posted above is 100% correct, it's a copy/paste from the email I received from Funcom. Obviously you can see the mistake and misinterpretation you've made.

Ok, I'll explain.

If you come back for 14 days you get double XP only.

If you pay for extra time after the 14 days you get;

Pay for 1 month = one week of additional game time for free

Pay for 3 months = guaranteed access to the closed beta test of The Secret World + the 1 month reward

Pay for 6 months = gets the Hyrkanian Headguard, an epic armor piece with a 10% XP boost + rewards for 1 month and 3 months

Pay for 12 months = gets the Rise of the Godslayer expansion for free + rewards for 1 month, 3 months and 6 months.

Coming back for 14 days doesn't get you access to anything other than double XP during the period.

oh, yeh, I just assumed that was implied. I read 'come back' as come back to being a paying subscriber; any old lamer can just come back for the free trial!
