The industry has been expecting - and awaiting - Microsoft's response to the recently revealed slim line PS3 and its cheaper price point and today they've done just that by giving us details on an Xbox 360 Elite price drops and bonus special.

The Xbox 360 Elite will drop in price by one hundred clams, from an AU RRP of $549 to $449, which is further enticed with a bonus copy of Halo 3: ODST available with the Elite from the first day of the price drop through till October 20th.

Microsoft's other Xbox 360 packages will remain the same price with Xbox 360 Arcade retailing for $299 and the Pro Bundle still coming in at $399.

Surprised the price schedule was so universal, looks like a dive across all territories today. Still, the US Elite dropped to their old Pro price.

I guess $100 and a free game isn't too shabby though.

Why wouldn't you go from a pro to an elite for an extra $50 and a free game? seems kinda silly.
