Valve have announced some more Left 4 Dead content:
Entitled "Crash Course," the latest DLC delivers new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay to both platforms. Targeted for release in September, "Crash Course" bridges the gap between the end of the "No Mercy" campaign and the beginning of "Death Toll" in the original game, expanding the game universe with new locations, new dialogue from the original cast, and an explosive finale

While containing both Survival maps and a Co-operative Campaign, the primary goal of "Crash" is to deliver a complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes, resulting in a streamlined version of the game's existing Versus campaigns. A recharge timer for infected teammates has also been added, and item spawn behavior has changed for more balanced gameplay.
This is definitely something I'm looking forward to! One of my big issues with Versus at the moment is it takes ages to sit down and haul through an entire campaign, so having a "lightweight" alternative for those times when you just want to have a quick bash will be awesome.

The DLC (or as we used to call it back in the day, "patch") is due for release in September and will be free on PC and cost you 560 Gamers points on Xbox Live.

I'd wait until they do a 50% off day for L4D again and pick it up then.

That's a kick in the balls for XBox owners.... ouch. Is this normal practice for XBOX DLC to use gamer points for this?

This is a nice start to L4D content but I have a feeling this will be the last true DLC Valve releases for L4D.

They are trying to get some good PR before the release of L4D2.

I wish they would release the 4v4 matchmaking update; I tried to play L4D last night and its really hard finding a decent game.

I bought it full price a month or two ago and happy with the decision. The first few times you play it scares the crap out of u its great entertainment value.

I'll put my money on the recharge for infected being some kind of wave spawning instead of individual player based timers.

If it's going to be quick rounds, they'll need the infected spawning together to be of any use before the survivors reach the end.

recharge timer will probably be for your special abilities, ie: smoker pull and boomer bile. all of the infected will be able to see when each others abilities are available so you can coordinate attacks better.

A little over 9 dollars I think.
LOL @ FPS gaming on a console though, regardless of DLC price differences.

If it takes 30 minutes to finish a versus mode does that mean it will take 15 minutes to run the campaign?

If so, that just seems lazy.

can you just copy custom maps/content into the XBox version like you can on PC?

is there anything to stop XBox user just copying the .vpk or .bsp from elsewhere and running that?

I think I'm beginning to understand why players can't just dl a map off the server when they join a L4D game.
