Following the recent announcement of the PSP version of Metal Gear Solid, Konami have announced they're working on cross-platform version of the game, due for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC:
The first Metal Gear Solid game in the series’ history to be released simultaneously on three platforms, Metal Gear Solid: Rising stars Raiden – one of the most popular characters within the MGS universe. Raiden made his debut as a playable character in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for PlayStation®2, and appeared as a non-playable cyborg in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PLAYSTATION®3.
No other information is available at this time, though they've released a cool-looking render which you can check out on our screenshots page.

Aye, I thought this was a post for another mainstream dev compiling an OpenGL version cross-platform for Linux/MAC. Disappointed.

"The first Metal Gear Solid game in the series’ history to be released simultaneously on three platforms"

The "Simultaneously" is the key there. This isnt the first mutliplatform Metal Gear title by a long shot. People seem to have very short memories, they forget that MGS2 was released on both the PC and Xbox, this was however after the initial PS2 release. MGS1 had a PC port, and that remake of it for the gamecube by Silicon Knights. And the original Metal Gear made the rounds aswell on the platforms of the time (Atari and Sega platforms excluded).

yep exactly

The thing - is does anyone really care about that any more? If your game ISN'T released simultaneously on all major platforms (at least Xbox and PS3) it sort of just makes you look like a bit of a chump, because you're denying a big chunk of gamers the ability to be able to play your game.
