We've posted up an interesting FAQ regarding Blizzard's Battle.net account system anyone who uses the online service should have a look at. Basically there are some changes that have been made to make it more centralised for your Blizzard games and accounts across the board.

So if you have an account (or two), or are planning on starting an account in preparation of the release of StarCraft II and Diablo III, hit this link to know what you're both getting yourself into, and what you should be doing to maximise your usage of Blizzard's Battle.net service.

Just checked atleast for starcraft anthology it looked like a single .exe download.

But in saying that I don't know how big the download should be so it could be a client

The single .exe download from battle.net is just a small (~1MB) downloader for the actual game installer, I ran it but haven't bothered to actually use it to download the game installer so can't comment on whether it's p2p or not.
