Atari have let us know that development has completed on The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, well ahead of its scheduled Australian release date of April 24th 2009.
Developed by the acclaimed team at Starbreeze Studios in conjunction with Tigon Studios and Universal Pictures, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena features a brand new 11 hour chapter in the Riddick saga with six intense online multiplayer game modes including the unique and thrilling Pitch Black mode. In addition to the full Assault on Dark Athena campaign, the disc includes a stunning HD remastering of celebrated title The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.
Xbox 360 owners should already be able to find a playable demo of the game on Xbox Live. The PlayStation 3 demo, currently available in North America is still "coming soon" for PAL regions (Europe and Australia).

In the mean-time, check out the latest dev diary trailer for the game, showing off more gameplay footage in a 4 minute clip featuring the Below Decks missions.

I enjoyed playing Escape from Butcher's Bay and this one looks like it's got some more interesting gameplay elements. I'll be downloading the demo.
