In fact they make a AU $183,500,000 or so offer. 84.3 million GBP has been put on the table in front of the troubled Eidos by Japanese giant, Square Enix, as the RPG giant looks to expand their business horizons into the great big Western world.

According to Gamesindustry.biz that offer is 258 percent higher than what Eidos was worth at the exact time of the bid (Jan 14).

"Eidos is a talented developer and publisher of interactive entertainment products with a broad portfolio of highly successful mass market franchises, led by Tomb Raider, one of the most successful videogame franchises of all time," stated Square Enix boss, Yoichi Wada.

"Eidos maintains a strong reputation for high quality development and proven expertise in creating characters and storylines that appeal to consumers. Eidos' products are highly complementary to our business and will accelerate our aggressive expansion into Western markets."

The offer has been put forward to shareholders for serious consideration, which means we might be seeing Ms Croft leading her own Final Fantasy charge one day (but probably not, even if the offer is accepted).

I don't like the look of this. I do hope that SquareEnix does not buy off Eidos. If so I will not be looking forward to this at all. *shakes head*

AKA Tomb Raider games. Thats the only one I can remember in receint years. Mabye Square can buy it, fire everyone there and fill it with people who actually can make good games like, people from Square

Eidos also did the original Hitman game. I quite enjoyed the first one.

Technically, Eidos just own the developers IO Interactive. Same with Tomb Raider, Eidos own Crystal Dynamics and Core Design's IP (the rest of Core Design was sold off to Rebellion).

Also, Deus Ex 3 is already being developed by Eidos Montreal. Here's some stuff you can read about it.
