It's not necessarily hardcore gaming news, but I can't help but feel proud to be in this industry when our richest companies start utilising their gazzillions of dollars to help society in the right way.

In this particular instance, it's SCE Australia who are co-branding SingStar with the cancer council's Girls Night In campaign that goes towards raising money and awareness for Woman's Cancers.
"SingStar is a social gaming phenomenon that has found a place in well over half a million Australian homes," commented Kendall Bascetta, Software Product Manager at SCE Aust. "With such a strong following, SingStar epitomises the sense of fun and community that Girls Night In is all about. Following the success of the partnership in 2007, we have significantly increased our support this year by directly contributing to the funding of the marketing campaign, with the aim to help Girls Night In continue to grow.
Sounds pretty money to me. You can check out more directly from the press release.

Women's cancers get about 1000x more attention and funding than men's cancers.

Why not just cancer in general? Men get cancer too.

Probably because girls are more interested in Singstar than guys. It's not bad marketing.

I wish there was just one foundation per cause. Rather than spending it on branding and showing that their foundation is better and yada yada yada

but, good work
