EA have sent through word of a release date for Crysis Warhead, sequel to the machine crunching and emasculating, Crysis on PC. Developed by visual tech-Gods and FarCry creators, Crytek (sheesh do we really need that much "Cry"?), Aussie gamers can expect to be needing to update their machines once more on September 18.
"We think Crysis Warhead is going to offer a tremendous experience to a wide range of gamers," said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. "Fans of Crysis are going to enjoy more of the open-ended gameplay, cutting-edge visuals and huge, epic battles from the first game, while also finally finding out what kind of havoc Psycho was wreaking on the other side of the island.

At the same time, we designed Warhead to be more accessible for gamers new to the Crysis franchise. It is a game with a story that can stand on its own, it has been optimized to run better on a wider range of PCs, and we are introducing Crysis Wars, a tailor-made experience for multiplayer gamers within the Crysis universe - all at a great value."
Well, we'll have to wait and see, but looking at this, it was a pretty smart move for Ubisoft to have already released the minimum specs required to run FarCry 2.

Or just visually impressive

I finally played Crysis last night after getting a beefier machine - very unimpressed

Why?
I loved the game and I played it on a P4 3.2GHz/6800GT/1GB Ram. It was totally playable. I don't understand how people can continuously bag the game for running poorly on even current gen hardware.
LOWER THE SETTINGS!
You don't Need 8xAA and 16xAF
If the hardcore gamers are convinced the game was poorly coded then why continue using it as a benchmark?

I totally understand what you mean, i played the crysis MP beta on my friggin 6800LE 128Mb P43.2ghz Xp machine and was very impressed at the visuals and engine scaling and gameplay. As soon as i stepped up to a SLI'd 8800GT - quadcore machine and whacked in a copy of the collectors edition of crysis, i was initially impressed but then the excitement quickly died down. Theres just things in the game that keep you from coming back again and again to play..

Crysis had its moments for me. That floating lvl almost made me quit. Didn't mind it in the end

i agree with mitch. i especially loved the opening levels of the game when your killing the koreans, but as soon as you get in the ship or what ever it just goes downhill.

I liked crysis alot, infact i think i played it stat to finish 3-4 times. everything about it and the "core" level was good for FPS because it wasnt something we are used to. I played on high settings and any other game I play now look like ass compared to it.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I played crysis on a core 2 duo, 7200gs, 22" screen on low settings and finshed the game, enjoying it alot. Then I upgraded to an 8800gt and was able to put it on very high setting, with full 1680x1050 res, getting good fps. Crysis is the MOST beautiful game I've ever played!

Every single time I read a news title: X Dated in Y.

I immediately think that X is now obsolete. :(
