![]() When the new Blizzard Accounts are active, a player’s 'WoW' points can be added to an overall score dubbed an account holder’s "Blizzard Level". "It's basically a gamerscore," Kaplan said, after a reference to Xbox Live’s Achievement system. "For now the points are just a 'WoW' character score. As we graduate to that Blizzard Account system, which is right on the horizon, it will switch over to a Blizzard Level."Looks like Microsoft were onto something with Achievements. Sony have recently announced their Trophy system while a bunch of Games For Windows titles have started including Achievements for PC gamers, leaving Nintendo the only company not following any sort of suit (though this idea really is up their alley). What do you reckon? Are achievements worth their weight in gamer's gold?

I know that, I'm just wondering what the point is. A quote in the link says:
So does it have any functional purpose? Do these achievements unlock certain things in-game like in TF2? Or is it purely there just to show off your shit to other people and nothing more?
