A new patch for Warcraft 3 has been released, bringing both the base game and the expansion up to version 1.22, adding a few new features and tweaking the balance. The new features are
- There is now a replay auto-save feature in the options menu. Replays are automatically saved to the "replay" folder.
- The game is now automatically saved in the event of a potential disconnect. These saved games are placed in the "save" folder.
- Player color selection can now be limited by the number of players in the game using an option in the "Advanced Options" screen during game
creation.
- Added an option to always show unit and building health bars.
- You can now enable and disable the display of minimap signals from players and other observers using chat commands:
/showminimapsignals and /hideminimapsignals.
- Added a new in-game cheat "maxfps" to limit the maximum frame rate to the given number. Example: "maxfps 30" will set the maximum frame rate to 30 FPS.
You can check out the balance changes on the official patch page.

The manual patches aren't yet available but we'll have them mirrored as soon as they are; in the meantime you can update automatically in-game.

Twisted, if you go and do some registry editing, you can set the resolution to whatever you like. Take a look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III\Video and change resheight and reswidth.

It's already set to what I want it to be. But it stretches the image out still.

Sadly that's all that can be done.

does that change the cinematics?
or is it just in game resolution?

Nvidia drivers and/or monitor settings should be able to fix this up.

In game resolution, sort of.

Blizzard decided to limit the resolutions the game will run in, deeming anything larger will be unfair in competitions (so they supposedly said ages ago). The registry edit will just stretch it to native resolution, something desperately needed for LCD monitors.

You also have to remember that the game was released in 2002.

Yeah there is a solution to the widescreen problem.

Run Window Mouse Capturer.
Then run WC3.exe or Frozen Throne.exe with -window/-windowed. Resize the window to your liking and hit the bind in WMC to keep the mouse inside. Voila.
