Activision are back with a new installment in the incredibly successful Guitar Hero franchise, the games responsible for cluttering our lounge-rooms with plastic console peripherals, and it's only going to get worse (lookout Rock Band). Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock hit stores nation-wide last week for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii with a PC and Mac compatible version also now in the works. Anyone have any insight into when the PC version is coming to Australia? Release date was set for today in the US.

The Wii version has online play, but I think you can only play against people that you know. Because you have to know their friend code or something dumb like that.

Can the various consoles play online matches against other consoles?
e.g. : x360 vs PS3?
