After a bit of a false start yesterday, the BioShock demo is now out and available for download. It's getting a good rap so you might want to check this one out.

When I went to extract the setup.exe from the zip file, AVG picked up a threat:

Trojan Horse generic6.ums

Anyone else get this? Is it safe?

"make sure the md5sum for the downloaded file is the same as whats on our website and you should be fine"

I think it may be a permissions thing actually...trying it on a work PC (naughty!) & the IT guys here didn't encounter the same thing.

To be honest, I dont like it. It reminds me too much of Doom 3, and we all know what a joke (gameplay wise) that was. The graphics are great, I'll give them that, but its the same old formula. Walk to trigger point, trigger monster, fight it with super graphic effects, rinse, repeat, with occasional cut-scene or story. The production values are great, but the game itself is 'meh'.

Sorry, but no sale to me.

The demo screams linear gameplay. Dont get me wrong, I loved DeusEx and FarCry, simply because there were multiple ways to get around things. This game is linear like its on rails. I love FPS's, but I dont like predictable games. And this game appears to use the same formula as Doom 3.

To each their own, I suppose.
