Nintendo have just announced a joint operation with Telstra which will provide Nintendo DS owners with free WiFi access at Telstra HotSpots:
Nintendo Australia, in conjunction with Telstra, is pleased to announce that Nintendo DS™ users can now enjoy Wi-Fi service to Nintendo DS at over 1,000 Telstra Wireless Hotspot® destinations across Australia. Destinations include McDonald’s Restaurants, Starbucks Cafés, airports, hotels and city hotzones throughout Melbourne and Sydney. Through the agreement with Telstra, Nintendo will offer complimentary access to Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection, the wireless gaming service that millions of Nintendo fans around the globe have been connecting to and playing online.
More information will apparently be available soon at www.NintendoWiFi.com.au.

Sweet.

The browser is already released here isn't it? I've seen it at EB, Target and such... well, just those two places near me. But would you really prefer to browse internet on a DS in maccas rather than play Mario Kart or Castlevania? (Or whatever your wifi game of choice is.)

I thought this happened ages ago, but whenever I went into maccas and tried to access, it went *family feud style sad noise*

So... I may have to testris this out.

Y'know, it sounds like a crap idea, paying for a web browser, but they've ported it especially for the specific hardware. I retract my previous comment about browser on DS statement as it would be quite handy when you want to find a friend code or something.

I just tried out Castlevania wifi tonight. First ever online experience and I get a low battery light after a few minutes of playing. :(

But yeah, maccas wifi is pretty good. Speedy. :D
