Sony have announced that the PlayStation 3 controller has "been recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences with a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award". Also, the PlayStation 3 has shipped one million units in the US!
I got a PlayStation 3 from Hong Kong just over a week ago. The controller initially feels quite light (even a little cheap) though it's obviously so you can use the pad's motion sensor for extended periods. It doesn't need to be recharged much, and the ability to turn the console off using the pad as a sort of remote control (PiiMote??) is handier than expected. The triggers don't have that much give, but they are sensitive. I just wish it still had a rumble option...
lol someone thought sony deserved an award for that thing? maybe its just my personal bias, but a controller design thats been recycled in various iterations over 3 generations of consoles is hardly an achievement considering *other* controller designs that have emerged in this current generation of consoles... including a totally new, convention breaking design that not only has better motion sensing, but also doesnt have a problem with combining motion sensing with force feedback (not a huge feature, but seriously, they cant overcome something that nintendo managed in cheaper controllers?)
What isnt mentioned is that (at least according to various US forums) the PlayStation 3 is easy to find on store shelves now, which probably demonstrates a lack of demand.
