Not to be outdone by the Nintendo Wii's success, Microsoft are reporting that they're not doing too bad in the old console battles themselves:

SYDNEY 13 December 2006: It may still be 12 more days until Christmas, but the celebrations started early at Microsoft today with Xbox 360� recording its highest grossing week of console hardware sales in Australia since it launched in March this year.

Figures from GfK, supplier of market data for the interactive entertainment sector, show that around $2.6 million worth of Xbox 360 consoles were sold in the week ending 13 December. This figure rises to $5.8 million when you combine sales of games software and accessories across the platform.
