A press release from start of TGS states that a software update this year will enable 1080p output on your Xbox 360!
You will finally be able to experience all 60 frames per second of visuals that your 1080p HDTV can provide. Unfortunately there has been no HDMI cable yet announced so this is only over component and VGA. Even better, users can expect 1080p upscaling immediately on current games and DVDs while native 1080p on compatible HD DVD titles.
Looks like one of Sony's major playing cards on the PS3 has just gone right out the window.

not many hd dvds have the DRM at the moment (cant remember what its called at the moment, HDCP or something), but they will soon, at which point i expect microsoft will HAVE to release an hdmi option!
thats when i swoop in and grab the hdmi option just for gaming, because id rather play games over hdmi and hd dvd doesnt interest me. maybe some day...

ive heard good things in the difference between digital (dvi, hdmi) and analogue (component, vga) connections. digital is pixel perfect, a lot less "fuzzy".

but its not as good as hdmi.. apparently... i dont really know to be honest. if vga can do it, dvi should be able to too. most top end TVs have dvi, dont they?
