IGN have details on the recently announced 40GB hard drive for the PS2. There is going to be an internal and external flavour, both retailing for about $150 US. A few games have already been confirmed as using the hard drive, most notable of the bunch is the upcoming Final Fantasy X.
The hard drive will be used by games as scratch space and storage space, but will really come into its own when later in the year Sony releases the network connector for PS2 and online access is possible.
