Yahoo! have this interesting item which seems to indicate Microsoft want to make a move into the Internet searching market:

"We do view Google more and more as a competitor. We believe that we can provide consumers with a better product and a better user experience. That's something that we're actively looking at doing," Bob Visse, director of marketing for Microsoft's MSN Internet services division, said.

I tell you what, it'd take a pretty awesome service before I'd stop use Google. How much better could it get!

Google is too good!

Even yahoo use google as their background search engine........

I don't know anyone who doesn't use google in my immediate friends/relatives/business associates.

Also you can put in a site:au to search for Aussie sites if you use the Google toolbar.

haha yer, why make something better when MS can just walk into Google with a cheque and let them put whatever amount of zeros on the end that suits them.

anyway, i wonder what MS would call their search engine. winoogle, gatesoogle, bill'a'vista?

You want to know what it would be called if Microsoft baught it out? Simple, it'd be somewhere along the lines of..."Microsoft Google MADNESS!"

If they took away google, you just know they're going to remove resutls that make them look bad.

Noooooooo,

Go away Microsoft. Google is so neat, clean and powerful.

Runs on a huge > 10,000 linux cluster for the spider. I don't think that would stay if MS took it over. Imagine the licensing fees they charge themselves with for that many servers.

Does google even have stock? Well, even if Microsoft does make something to compete with google, I will remain loyal! Even if Microsoft comes out with the most high tech crapass search engine ever conceived, I'll help google stave them off by still using it for all of my searching needs : )
