For those of you that haven't been following the current movements at Australia's largest game service Telstra GameArena, they've made a new game client, with authentication, and shortly, you'll no longer be able to play on any GameArena server unless you are logged into COGS.

The first game to move to COGS only is Battlefield, GameArena have eight battlefield servers (about 60% of all spots in Australia for the game). You'll no longer be able to see Battlefield on any gamelist, nore the ingame browser, the only place you can join GameArena Battlefield servers from, is the COGS client. Download it here.

Over the next few days other games on GameArena will have the same requirement, including Counter-Strike, DOD, and TFC. A linux version will be released tomorrow, for those people that play halflife under linux.

sounds like spyware to me!

COGS is really a trojan that sucks the RAM of of your computer and transmits it over the interweb to Telstra's head office so they can use it in their game servers.

BEWARE!
