We first went hands-on with Fable 2 a couple of months ago back during E3, but Microsoft and Lionhead Studios were in action once again at Leipzig Games Conference and this time trog has the low-down.
As with every game that Peter Molyneux is involved with, it promises a lot and the early glimpses we've seen indicate that there's a chance it will deliver. Fable was hugely popular and the sequel is looking like it will build well on the original with a bunch of big new features, so it's unlikely to do a Black and White on us, is what I'm saying here.Read on for the complete low-down. Our recent hands-on with the singleplayer portion of hotly anticipated PlayStation 3 shooter Killzone 2 left a little to be desired, but at the recent Leipzig Games Conference, AusGamers had the opportunity to check out the game's high-octane multiplayer component.
Things are looking more promising for this part of the game at least. Find out why in AusGamers in-depth preview. Thursday, 28 August 2008

Another flight combat game preview for you all today, this time with modern-day technology and then some in Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. - the first game in a new franchise from Ubisoft.
We got to check out H.A.W.X. at Leipzig recently and were treated to a half-hour demo of the game in action. H.A.W.X. features around 50 meticulously recreated aircraft - all fully licensed to ensure the most accurate experience possible. They range from some of the older Cold War-era jets like the MiG-25, all the way up to modern fighters like the F-35.Find out more of our impressions on the game in our feature preview and check out the latest clip of this game in action in the E3 2008 trailer Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. is due late this year on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. EA have officially given us a heads up for the cast of their upcoming RTS smash, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. For anyone not up-to-scratch with this series, It's always had actors delivering camp lines around an equally over-the-top story, that fans tend to eat up.

Simmons (Spider-Man, Juno), Autumn Reeser (The OC), Peter Stormare (Prison Break, Armageddon), GeorgeLooks like they're going all-out with this one. Sony's big news from Leipzig this year is a new version of the PSP, offering a significantly improved screen to provide better a better visual experience when playing games, particularly outside in natural light.
On the PlayStation 3 front, the 80GB PS3 model has been confirmed for release in Australia on the 28th of August. A 160GB PlayStation 3 model was also announced... but: SCE Aust. confirmed it will not be introducing the limited edition 160GB PS3 announced by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe at the 2008 Games Convention Developers Conference (GCDC) held in Leipzig, Germany. So, no luck for us there. Hopefully that might change. A wireless, BlueTooth keyboard was also announced and shown, clipping straight on to your regular controller, allowing you to type directly into the game. A Touch Pad surface allows you to get fine control over the pointer - while it's not a mouse and keyboard for FPS games, this new device will certainly massively increase the usability of the PS3 for things like web browsing. A new music video service was also announced. Called VidZone, I didn't exactly have high hopes that it be made available for Australians, but according to the press release, it'll be online in "early 2009". Music videos can be watched directly on your PS3 for free, or downloaded to compatible mobile phones for a small charge. On the actual games side, no major new announcements - just a highlight reel of some of the big titles that we're already expecting, like Little Big Planet, Heavy Rain (preview coming soon!), Killzone 2, and a few of the others. We'll have some video of the press conference up soon! Post by trog @ 12:39am 24/08/08 | 1 Comments
