Our resident Mariophile, Chad Drake, has been resting his weary E3 legs in some gravity-pounding Super Mario Galaxy 2, ripping into the very fabric of Mario's platforming legacy to deliver us his final verdict on where the series rests today.

We gave the original Super Mario Galaxy one of the site's highest scores (9.7), so there's a lot to live up to in the sequel, and while fans will usually eat up anything Mario, Chad took it through its paces for an honest review look.

Nintendo Australia has let slip that the release date for Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be July 1st.
Run, jump, and fly through a dazzling galaxy of all new stages, bursting with imagination when Super Mario Galaxy(TM) 2 for Wii(TM) hits stores from 1 July 2010.

For players new to the Super Mario Galaxy franchise, Super Mario Galaxy 2 comes packaged with a DVD which provides helpful hints and tips. Included are tips for skilled players as well.
No word or reasoning as to why it's almost 6 weeks delayed from the US release, but maybe it's "punishment" for New Super Mario Brothers Wii being leaked online early by a local? promoted forum item
