EA and Insomniac Games have revealed that their upcoming co-op shooter Fuse, previously known as Overstrike, will be opening up a demo for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players to experience the fast-paced action. The demo will be available on May 7 and will allow players to play online cooperatively with up to four players, or in a 2-player split-screen.
In the demo, players will take on the role of four elite operatives – Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble and Naya Deveraux. These special agents are out to protect mankind from Fuse, a deadly alien energy source which has been stolen by the rogue paramilitary organisation, Raven. Each of the characters delivers a unique gameplay experience, as they have their own individual and unique “Xenotech” weapon and specialised skills. Players will use these abilities as they track down the Fuse source in a snowy secret weapon depot.

“When it comes to Fuse, the biggest thing we’ve noticed when sharing it with others for the first time is that playing is believing,” said Ted Price, CEO and founder of Insomniac Games. “Fuse takes four player co-op in a new direction with features you won’t find in other third person shooters: from LEAP where you can jump between each of the four unique agents at will to the experimental Xenotech weapons to the deep RPG-like character progression system. And by the way, all of these features rock for solo players as well. Join us in this brand new universe for a quintessential Insomniac Games experience.”
For more on what to expect from the co-op shooter you can swing by their official website which includes a run down of each member available for play.

Fuse will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 31.

Insomniac Games has revealed new screenshots for their upcoming cooperative action game Fuse, originally known as Overstrike. The title sees four players joining forces to take down enemies, upgrade weapons, and unlock abilities faster through the Fuse-based progression system.
What happens when humans gain access to powerful alien technology they were never meant to have? When a volatile energy source called Fuse falls into the wrong hands, the CIA calls in an elite contact team to retrieve it: Overstrike 9. Join up to three friends in team-based co-op play as you take down the rogue paramilitary corporation behind the theft. Use lethal teamwork, coordinate devastating attacks, and provide cover for one another with fringe-tech weapons and gadgets.

The unique LEAP feature lets you instantly shift from agent to agent during combat, allowing you to take advantage of each one’s special arsenal. You’ll need your teammates and their firepower to stop a global arms race from spinning out of control.
The new screenshots definitely show off the re-designed direction that Insomniac are taking, with a new approach to design that leaves it quite explosive like. You can check out a glimpse below, but head over to our game page for the full reel.
