We have a slightly belated Dead Rising 2 review to share with you today, for anyone who wasn't sure and so hasn't gone out to check out the game, or for anyone else who has it and either agrees or disagrees with what we've got, either way.
This zombie-killing fest is available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, so there's no reason to avoid checking out our verdict, as there's no exclusion here (as we're all aware happens a lot in the industry at the moment), and for anyone who played the first game and wants to know how this fares against it, we get down to the nitty gritty for you. Click here for the full run-down. Tuesday, 13 July 2010

Capcom (by way of THQ in Australia), have given us a glimpse at the Special Edition release for Dead Rising 2 here in Australia, entitled Outbreak Edition. Aside from a copy of the game, you'll also receive a zombie statue with interchangeable heads. Not enough for you? How about a Making Of DVD, a "Sports Fan Theme Pack" (exclusive skills and a unique costume for Chuck) and "a complete guide to making your own zombie-destroying weapons in our Tape it or Die catalogue - a must for all potential Terror is Reality contestants".
There will also be console-specific extras in the way of a PS3 Dynamic Theme for Sony's console, while Xbox 360 owners get "Dead Rising Sun" a full-length feature directed by Keiji Inafune (his directorial debut). The Outbreak Edition will set you back AU$169.95 and is available at JB, EB and GAME from September 30 - but there are only 700 of these for each console Australia-wide, so pre-order quickly. THQ, Australian distributor for all things Capcom, have successfully managed to pull Dead Rising 2 through the Australian Classification Board without the need for a single change and a solid MA15+ rating.
The game is currently scheduled to arrive on PC at a TBA date with PS3 and Xbox 360 this September 30. An exclusive prequel will be arriving as DLC on Xbox 360 called "Case Zero" that offers story junkies a bit more to the overall DR2 narrative, as well as the ability to reach a certain PP level and carry it across to the full game upon its release. There's currently no date for Case Zero though, so stay tuned. Monday, 28 June 2010

We don't 'officially' have a date for AU yet, but usually with Capcom and EU releases they're on par (even earlier for us every once in a while), and today they announced an October 1st street date for Dead Rising 2.
Dead Rising 2 is set for release throughout Europe on October 1st. Sequel to the million plus seller, Dead Rising, and set in the gambling paradise of Fortune City, Dead Rising 2 introduces new main character, Chuck Greene, and delivers 1000s more zombies with even more ways to defeat them as players try to survive for 72 hours in this darkly comedic, no holds-barred action title.Xbox 360 owners will also be able to play Case Zero, a prequel to the events that unfold in DR2, though no official date for that has been revealed. ![]() Wednesday, 28 April 2010

Continuing our Captivate 2010 coverage, we have an updated hands-on preview of Dead Rising 2, which was shown in advanced form at the event where co-operative play was also revealed.
The most creative zombie killing this side of Peter Jackson's Braindead, Dead Rising 2 ups the gore-factor ten-fold with all the humour we've come to expect from Capcom and co as well as engaging gameplay, quirky characters and plenty of hidden goodies. As a treat, we also sat down with Blue Castle Games president, Rob Barrett to talk zombies, game engines and dildos (or 'massagers'). Click here for the full preview/interview feature. Capcom today confirmed a sequel to one of the Xbox 360's initial release titles and 1.5 million plus seller, Dead Rising, was well and truly in the works and would arrive on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms. Not specific release date or period was mentioned in the release.
According to Capcom, events in Dead Rising 2 kick off several years after those of the original game and you'll be tackling the hordes of undead in a fictitious gambling establishment called Fortune City. There'll also be "tens of thousands of zombies" this time around. You can check out the teaser trailer here, otherwise stay tuned for more details as they're released in the not too distant future, and be sure to check out our Dead Rising 2 game page. |
