Not that the title to this post should be construed as a bad thing, rather that you should take it as an indication that once you "Suit Up", as EA is telling us to, you're going to be strapped in for one heck of a rollercoaster ride.
But as PC lovechild and FPS hero, Bennett "GunSlingerAUS" Ring learns through his Crysis 3 review duties, there's only so many explosions a man can take. Even one suited up in a piece of nano amazement. Crysis 3 does a lot right, including catering the game more towards the PC strengths of Crytek and their roots, but it forgets to take a breath every once in a while. AusGamers was recently given a chance to catch up with Crytek's Mike Read to get a read on where the studio is at with their final chapter in the Crysis trilogy, Crysis 3.
Among a range of topics, we spoke with him about being on the home stretch, what the team has learnt from Far Cry through to Crysis 3, dedicated servers (and their importance in the world of PC gaming), and if the team could ever foresee a future where another studio takes on the Crysis universe. "I don’t think so. Crysis is something that has really helped build Crytek to what it is today," Read explained. "From the CryEngine 2 with the original Crysis, to what we’ve done with the CryEngine 3, and the number of licensees, and how we’re continuing to grow out that, in terms of film, and games, and architecture, and all of these different facets. We’re moving in quite a number of different directions." Click here for the full video interview and transcript feature. Thursday, 10 January 2013

EA and Crytek have revealed and teased a series of cinematic shorts to promote the upcoming Crysis 3 videogame. Titled The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3, the series is being directed by acclaimed filmmaker Albert Hughes (From hell, Book of Eli), who will seemingly be working with the game, machinima-style, to showcase the game's impressive environments.
“When EA and Crytek approached me about being involved in creating ‘The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3’ video series, I liked the idea of creating emotional stories using only computer generated images,” stated Albert Hughes. “The challenge of producing something intensely human without ever seeing a human on screen was incredibly compelling, and the technology of the CryENGINE that Crytek developed enabled me to do that and venture into a completely unique medium of storytelling.”The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3 series is set to kick off on December 12 2012, with the game itself due on February 22 2013 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. |
