Lots of little things act up on my android, like the cursor is hard to put in the textbox, if you zoom in on the text box often it sits at the bottom right hand corner of the text box, while you're typing somewhere out of the screen in the top left.

Is that because you don't have flash?

Edit: Nope, Just is really boring. Pressing the right arrow next to products results in products in a simple form..

It looks like it's designed for the nokia 6110.

Yeah looks better, I spent a ton of time helping to develop mobile pages for our clients eg http://mobile.motorama.com.au/ http://mobile.fordfseriestrucks.com.au/

there's a few tricks you could use for your banner ads too to get them to scale with the size eg

http://webdesignerwall.com/tutorials/css-elastic-videos
http://webdesignerwall.com/tutorials/adaptive-responsive-design-with-css3-media-queries

The self resizing stuff can be applied to any kind of element

For the mobile site link you gave Trog.

Please get rid of the big QGL icon and the "Next Event: Unknown | Forum Rules | QGL Website | Event Registration"

Just need the forum treeview, the "Forum | Guidelines | Search | Moderators | Online Users | Profile Manager | Logout | Messages"

and then what you have for the forum layout is perfect.

and get rid of as much of the bottom footer (except for the page count) as you legally can plz.

for example all the

"Plain Post, not many replies
This thread has 50 or more replies This post is new since your last visit
This thread has 50 or more replies,
and is new since your last visit Thread is locked.
Thread is 'sticky' (always at top of list)"

and the

"Advertise with Us | Privacy Policy | Contact Us

that would rock. ty

Ok sorry I didn't really understand what you could and couldn't change.

Can we disable sickies from being 'stuck' on the mobile site?

I don't care who made the thread either - perhaps others can give their opinion on this? I think the thread title is the only important part along with the replies (to see how active a topic is).

Following on from this I would rather the icon that shows if a new post has been added since my last visit then a name of the thread creator.

On the topic of mobile websites.. is there any way to force my browser (safari on iPhone) to go to the full version of a website instead of the mobile version?

Say I want to go to www.barnyardbitches.com and it redirects me to m.barnyardbitches.com, can I force it to display the proper www.barnyardbitches.com?

probably not without disabling cookies or browser user-agent or something - most (good) websites have a "return me to full site" link somewhere on the mobile site so you can always get to it, but there's a bunch that don't.

That would require user-agent trickery which isn't possible in Safari on iPhone without using Jailbreak mods. There might be a way to do it natively with Opera though, so maybe check that out.

Some sites aren't using user-agent any more - better practice is to query what the browser can do rather than get it to identify who it is. Reason for this is the speed of new browser versions being released - too much overhead to keep updating code to correctly identify them all.

Nice work on the mobile qgl site - is there an equivalent for ausgamers forums?

Hmmm, not sure, we develop the site in such a way that there realy is no different between a mobile page and a simply shrunken browser window. I've got firefox installed on my phone aswell.

There is other cool css shit you can do with different runes for different sized windows. so you can actualy make a single page conform to the screen size it has to render in.

Can I plead make a suggestion/request: on the mobile site, inside the post td cells, place a span with a width property.
Reason for this is if you put it on the td, if someone puts in a wide image, it changes the max width for all cells. By adding this span, you're effectively re-setting it for each row/post.

This would help the horizontal scrolling needed currently, and I would hope is pretty easy to add.

Depends on how you've templated mobile versus normal...
But I'm a little worried that [td...][span style="max-width: 100%"]...content[/span][/td] might not be adhered to by Safari etc.

Setting 'width=' might cause the post area to be full screen width, instead of the table width (as the user info + content) taking the screen width.
Maybe a better CSS pro can confirm.

Unfortunately I don't have any tools on me to grab and view the mobile source to see how different it is.

Edit: Looking at the sample code, this might be better:

[span class="mobilemax"]...[/span]

/* MEDIUM SCREENS */
@media screen and (max-width: 960px)
{
span.mobilemax {
max-width: 820px;
}
}

/* SMALL SCREENS */
@media screen and (max-width: 480px)
{
span.mobilemax {
max-width: 400px;
}
}

Edit: Also, thanks for fixing the zoom thing.
