Testers wanted: new version of WackGet Download Manager

Plasma has just finished updating WackGet - a file download tool that we've been recommending on AusGamers - so that it works on Windows Vista/7.

Embarrassingly I kept forgetting that we have been recommending it and people keep asking us how to download stuff with our stupid broken software. Finally I remembered and Plasma has dragged WackGet kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

I'm hoping some people might have a few spare minutes to test it out:

http://trog.qgl.org/up/1108/WackGet-v1.2.4-beta.zip

Basically you just extract it and run the .exe included. WackGet will start, possibly in the system tray, and you just need to find something to download, click on it in the system tray, hit queue, and - you should be able to figure out the rest.

(Now, normally if someone posted a random .exe and told you to run it you should no sooner do that than you should take a syringe from a random stranger and jab it into your neck, but YOU CAN TRUST ME!)

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks team!

I tried a couple of downloads from ausgamers, but it doesn't seem to work for me.

I go past the ad to the "click here to start your download" link, right click and copy the url, then add it to wackget and it tells me that the download failed. I might be using it incorrectly, I don't know. The same files download correctly through my browser.

I tried a file from 3fl for good measure, same outcome

tried the link you posted, same outcome.

It doesnt even take a minute to think, it just instantly spits out failure. I'll have another look and see if there is anything obviously wrong with it.

tried restarting my browser and selecting a different wackget download folder, no dice :(

Argh. Sorry, really obvious problem - the zip file is missing wget.exe. You know, the thing that makes it DO ANYTHING!@#

I've updated the zip and tested again and now it works on Dan's PC so I believe should be fine. Thanks & sorry for the time wastage on the first one.
