I think I can see what is causing the problem - the page cache stuff doesn't know to not cache pages if there are differences in the edit button stuff (short version).

I can fix that but it will basically mean we're caching different versions of the forum page for each logged-in person, which sounds sort of dumb to me. So the easy fix is to just make the edit button show up for everyone. I'm just testing that now and will roll out in a few mins if I can't see anything wrong with it.

I don't know, can you? I know you can mess with it using grease monkey but I'm no ninja so I dunno how to do it. It'd be easier if the different boxes/text fields/etc were all just user changeable. I swear I saw a forum once where you could do that, unless that was the forum colour editor or something for people who were setting up the forum & it wasn't visible to users.
