The Defence Force has reported a flood inside one of its Collins Class submarines.

Defence says a machine space in HMAS Farncomb started to fill with sea water after a hose split. The exercise involved the successful sinking of former United States Navy ship Kilauea with with a Mk 48 torpedo. The Kilauea begins sinking after being torpedoed by the Collins Class submarine HMAS Farncomb.

The department said in a statement the flooding was minor and the situation was dealt with quickly.

OK, so during a submarine doing target practice (sink a retired ship), the sub sprung a non-critical leak.

Cool pics inside that link though, and a lot of actual detail about surrounding issues of the whole situation. EG environmental, historical etc.

Would be so cool going scuba diving in newly sunk wrecks, get that eerie feeling that it use to be fully operational only a few months ago.
