I don't know in the video it talks about how paraplegics need to do exercises in a standing position and this is extremely hard for the elderly and the obese but this makes it a lot easier. They'll probably come out with a heavy duty version after awhile either way.
meh, missing a few key points to maintain a healthy body
for one, if you can use your arm, why oh why use a powerchair,
also, is he pulling himself up?, or is that function powered as well???? if it is he will have a pot belly in no time
put simply most people (young, fit, but unable to walk) are put in a "tippy" wheelchair, this (while un-balanced) means the person has to use their core to maintain the chains balance, and the simple act of pushing a chair is exercise,
another bonus to a tippy chair is while harder to balance (and not fall backwards) it is easier to push, (and less stressful on a shoulder, which often suffers over time)
I have two questions tho... I wonder how it compares the cost of an electric wheelchair.
And considering it's small footprint (which for the most part is a massive benefit in shopping centres etc) I wonder how likely it is to tip over when on an incline. (and by extension, whether or not it's easy enough for a user to then stand back upright, and 'mount' from the ground.
That's a cool invention. I'd love to be around in the future when robotic limbs are available. Be awesome to get you're arms cut off and replaced with ones that could crush things. Or get robotic eyes that have cool stuff like infra red and xray vision.

Things could get very awkward if the brain proves able to manage additional limbs. Like... octopus-people awkward.
I finished watching an awesome 25 part Discovery Channel series on weekend.
Sci-fi Science. 20mins eps with each detailing how to do something in sci-fi, in real life. Based on current research and theories.
Really entertaining to watch. Go grab it.
One of the more interesting eps was about becoming a Superhero. Had some cool stuff about having xray vision, super streth and speed via some awesome artifical muscles and even had 2 robot arms on your back that responded to thoughts as if they were your own limbs.
