Alex Hutching's for sure, I rarely come across guitarists that blow me away but his phrasing is ridiculous.

i'm in china atm so I can't embed from youtube... but if you're looking for the _best_ guitar players in the world , look up names like Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Angelo Batio, Marty Friedman, Greg Howe, Steve Vai, Michael Romeo . there are more ofc but it depends on what style of guitar playing you're looking for.

I know you stated guitars but...

This guy gets given video game music (by the uploader) that he's never seen OR heard before and sight reads it first go, mind = blown that people can do this.

He does heaps of them, Mario, Zelda etc.

I've been a big fan of Alex Hutchings for some time, I even grabbed a GR-55 after seeing him demo it:

He makes guitars sing!!

That alex guy has talent but fark i just hate that sound.. and the cheesy baking track.... theres no suspense or anything about it... not bagging him out just not my cup of tea.

This on the other hand..

Saw him live at the tivoli last year.. bloody awesome!

Might have to crack out the gibson and fire up the mesa boogie tomorrow :)

Yeah that looks like a nice bit of kit Deviouz.

I bought an Ovation CC24 the other day:

I really like it. Probably the only negative is you can't easily play it on your lap without wearing a strap, because the plastic body and the shape of it just slips off your knee.

I really like the string spacing though - more like an electric guitar than a classical guitar.

Nice to see an ovation with out that leather patten, hot looking guitar! I need an acoustic

that's my set-up live, ME-70, VOX-AC30 Strat (standard) GR55 (bad ipad picture)

I cant play any other instruments, so GR-55 is good for expressing what I'm thinking with any sound.

Cool. Fixed link: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/205/grmevox.jpg

Yeah, I think the red and blue CC24's look a bit tacky, but the black one looks alright. I tried five guitars in the $400-700 range and the Ovation was equal best with a $750 Takamine solid top, but the Takamine had the classic wooden acoustic look and I was determine to have something that looked more modern so I settled on the Ovation. I tried the $1500 Ovation as well and thought it was worse sounding, to be honest *shrug*

It's electric acoustic, so I have some options for annoying friends and recording :P

I wanted a Takamine so bad when Thom Yorke was sporting one back in 1997/8ish but yeah, half the fun is running gear that looks/feels diff to the norm. I had a Fender Stratacoustic, WORST ever, bridge just peeled right off!

not me but why I think the Gr55 is awesome and why every1 needs one (I don't work for Roland)

wtf ? that Piano thing isnt playing Guitar.
UR DOING IT WRONG

I had a play one of those things but the slight delay annoyed me.
Though it is something you could get used after a while.
Do you use it much ?

This is my only (exact) setup now.

link

No power leads just one for the amp and a midi cable to the foot controller.
It has limitations though (effects depend on the Amp) but for 99%+ of playing you wouldnt need anything else.
I truly love my Sanpera 2.

nice thread, some good vids
I've been into guitar for about 25 years on and off so have a lot of favourites but the ones I probably listen to the most are david gilmour, mark knopfler and mike oldfield - particularly david gilmour. love his rough-and-ready bluesy style, it's simple which means I can play it, but because he's played so long he's a master of getting a lot of feeling and different vibrato into so many notes

love how he's been bustin out this gretsch lately, delicious woody tones through that neck pickup

and this les paul
