Well here it is! I finally got my first tattoo, against Hardwares every so mighty calls haha. It hurt for a bit, but luckily it sort of numbed itself after awhile. And it was also in short bursts which was nice, you'd get a bit of pain, then stop, then get some more, then stop etc. The outline was done in 30 minutes, which was quite amazing, and overall, it took 2 hours to do, for $350. Very happy with the overall design, I was a bit afraid it might not suit my arm being such a large design, but the lady who was drawing did a fantastic job resizing and modelling it for my arm. I recommend Bad Apples in Taringa if your ever after one, as it was an amazing job, and a great bunch of people!
Pictures, and I recommend Bad Apples, great team there, amazing work!

Hey, I ain't going to say "omg why you hate my tattoo". I like honest opinion. I got a dragon, because it looked nice to me, and I've been an avid dragon fan since I was able to read. My favourite genre is fantasy, and I love dragon tales. I have a enormous collection of dragon statues, ornaments and a dragon axe at home. I'm a dragon fan.

This was my knee-jerk reaction but the thinking is along the lines of 'check out chicks can do better - they probably didn't work hard enough at school'.
That might be the case but then how would you buy groceries?
For every 'Eorl who loves dragons' there is guaranteed to be a chick (or bloke?) out there that is similarly inclined - so I say roll along and do what you want.

How long does a tattoo usually take to heal up? Just been washing it with water gently and putting moisturiser on it every 2-3 hours, not hurting anymore, and not itchy either.
Already got my second one somewhat in the works, thinking I'll either make one myself, or get one similar to that chest tattoo, but on the right arm, something that shows a cyborg/other thing underneath. Maybe some dragon scales :P

Oh man, this stuff is a must I thought? Didn't they tell you that? The place where I get my work done has a disclaimer card saying that if you don't use it and you get an infection they aren't responsible! :)
Bepanthen
|

Oh no they gave me a massive pamphlet on how to keep it all good etc, was just wondering what the average healing time is. It's peeled this morning, and the redness is gone, just a slight bit of soreness now, only when I move my arm to stretch. The tattoo parlour I went to actually said not to use Bepanthen, and if you do they aren't responsible for any infections, and it's known to pull out the ink. Using Cetaphil instead, does the job, just apply a thin layer all over the tattoo after letting it dry for 10 minutes.

Bepanthen is completely fine and it doesn't pull the tattoo at all. let it dry sometimes, just a little (not scabby dry, just so that it hurts when you pull it), then apply whatever aftercare treatment you have. Honestly, I'm covered in tatts and always use bepanthen. And whatever you do, keep it out of the sun and don't pick the scabs at all. ever. no matter how itchy it gets - that will pull the ink

Thanks Steve for the advice, that's pretty much what I'm doing. Having short showers 3 times a day to wash it, and then putting moisturiser on it every so often when it does start to hurt when it's pulled. What part of the body was the most painful when getting a tattoo, Steve?

Bepanthen is unreal.
Goes on thick. Rubs right in.
Just keep laying that shit down it is the best.

True true, just didn't want to use it and have it pull the colour out, thus allowing no free touch ups.
Found my next tattoo, though tossing up whether to get scales, obviously black, or robot parts underneath.

I am not overly fussed by the one you got.
SAying that I have some which I don't like as much as I used to.
Mainly because not enough thought went into it as in an impulse tattoo.
My suggestion given your last post is keep a common theme.
Would kinda be weird if you had dragons on one and robot on the other.
