Yeah, indeed an awesome site. Just a pitty the photos aren't Ortho-corrected or rectified.

They try to get a new run (of either Sat or Aerial) every month, but because of all the clouds they haven't really updated in 2-3 months...

Except right now it has horrible images of Wivenhoe Dam which is what I want to see.

However a little birdie tells me nearmap should have some new images of the Brisbane flood area up by around sunday.

yeah I don't even know much about it but I can imagine correcting that much imagery by hand would be a massive job

which must be why google building maker has only a pinch of places with multiview that users can model from

They use aerial photography as opposed to satellite images?

They use both Baseman, depending on area and zoom level.

Metro areas will be Aerial, rural is more Sat. They also use different Sats (NOAA. GeoEye, Spot, Rapid Eye). So like the Ocean they use NOAA imagery, because it has the largest pixels and tiles.
