If you still have java enabled/installed it is now being recommended by even the US Department of Homeland Security that you should disable Java until Oracle get around to fixing it.

how come in that chrome 'How to' you don't just tick the box "Do not allow any site to run Java Script."
What's the difference between that and disabling the plug in?

Includes bumping up the default security level so that unsigned apps don't run without you giving them an OK
