I just went out and looked at the sky that was the same as the sky on the monitor.

Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.

It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go.

Great software, works on linux, and get the satellite plugin as well.

Obviously you're just being be a dick, but this software is pretty useful for working out the coordinates of faint objects to later point a telescope or long-exposure camera at - since you won't be able to spot the objects with your naked eye.

This software would be great for Schools.
By using social media and this software a teacher could be explaining to kids in their own homes what they are seeing.
