As I type this I am on my Windows 8 install, it links to your XBOX Live account if you so wish but I get an error message saying my region won't allow me to sign in yet. Some things don't work properly, adding items from your library (if you're smart you'll install it on a new partition) is slow and cumbersome (think Media Centre), but overall it looks promising IMO.

It looks like some features will become available as time progresses so I think passing harsh judgment at this stage is premature, but I think being Australian gets you shafted (as usual).

The feedback feature is handy though, much better than the pre-release versions of Windows 7, although the one error code I have come across wasn't able to be copypasta.
