Since I'm one who thinks that changing e-mail addresses (sometimes as often as every year) is unacceptable, I've stuck with an
@bigpond.com address since I first signed up with dialup at the turn of the century.
So this is actually welcome news. Till now,
@bigpond.com e-mail services were pathetic. The web service (which was changed about three years ago) is downright awful, and there's never been any IMAP support nor Exchange support until around year or so ago, which you had to pay extra for the 'Premium' service (for a lousy 20MB storage quota). It's POP or nothing, which is pointless in an age of mobile computing.
Telstra know that people are shifting to cloud-based e-mail services like GMail and the like. This is a wise move. I say, bring it.
