Llama is a great profile switching app, check it out, you can do time based profile switching (eg at work between 9 to 5) or cell tower location based off it's ID (eg the tower near home trigger the home profile)

on telstra, no issues with data..

I used to have data problems but I got rid of the virgin proxy setting on the apn and its been working great since then.

-Mcafee Wave Secure. (Really good security / anti theft app. If I send a certain text and pin it puts on a really loud alarm that you can't turn off )
-Jkay deluxe settings (I use it so the phone can't be turned off by the power button..see annoying alarm above)

-imapmyride (awesome running/riding gps tracker. Check your distance, speed etc)

Quickpic - way better than stock gallery app
PowerAMP - paid music app, way better than winamp
Miren Browser - fantastic, clean browser
Quick Settings - window popup to quickly change some phone settings
BetterBatteryStats - unlike other battery usage apps, this shows wakelocks to determine what is keeping phone awake - the major source of battery drain and something that the other apps can't show
Sound Manager - set time-specific sound profiles (e.g. low vol ringtone, sms sound off at night)
Tubemate - download youtube vids
Auto SMS - can auto-respond with custom SMS (e.g. "in meeting, will get back to you") if someone from your whitelist calls and/or texts you.
Adfree - adblock for rooted phones
PassItForward - very simple sms forwarding app if you have multiple phones
Tasker - very powerful scripting/event-based app (e.g. turn off lock-screen and bluetooth if in range of your home wifi, turn on wifi if detected specific cell tower near your house)
XBMC (offical version) - wirelessly control xbmc if watching shows/movies on TV connected to PC
