Development Build is much better. Feels on the same leveling now and actually blocks ads in flash content which has been one of the things holding it back on chrome compared to firefox.

Firefox has been going downhill more and more but there's still a couple of plugins that I love and are keeping me here. There are beta versions for chrome for one, maybe two of them so when chrome gets all the features I have in firefox I'm off like a rocket.

The last straw was this stupid new numbering system they have that breaks plugins, even if they're compatible. The irony came in strong one day when it disabled the addon I was using to disable compatibility checks because it said THAT was incompatible.

I used to be all about the Chrome, till it started non-stop showing a Java plug-in install message, that wouldn't go away no matter what I did. So now I'm back on Firefox for the first time in ages!

What is the warning, exactly? The only ones I've seen relating to Firefox memory usage came from AVG. Do you use AVG?

Trauma it is actually a better browser than firefox. Also firefox does have system resource hogging issues now. I know what you are saying but there is a valid reason to jump ship.

Resource hogging is a bit of an lol. If you judge that by the small percentage of your total memory that it uses (it's using 2.5% on my PC at the moment) then you are doing it wrong. I'd rather it had more stuff loaded into RAM than access it off the HDD.

I've never had any error message saying it is using to much memory, sounds like a 3rd party program giving you the message like Trog suggested.

Actually, Chrome has 2 versions, and both work flawlessly.

Depends on your definition of better.

I'm attached to my FF addons and Greasemonkey scripts and cannot migrate to Chrome for 'power browsing' although I do use Chrome for web apps like GMail, iView, Twitter and so on.

Pinky, your in luck. Greasemonkey is on Chrome now, and uses the same scripts I believe. Called Tampermonkey.

I guess I will join in here....my FireFox crahses alot as well or either runs slower and slower till it grinds to a halt....not saying Im going to switch just yet but it is annoying and I never had this happen before.

It's rare for my Firefox to crash and I'm a bit OCD about tabs so there is very rarely more than say 4 tabs open, does not use much of my 8gb of ram. Also addons FTW. So I have no complaints with Firefox.

What add ons do you have installed?

I basically never have this happen and I run Firefox all day every day. I restart it maybe once or twice a day though because I use the shit out of it and it ends up consuming a lot of RAM.

<3 Firefox for greasemomkey and delicious. no errors here. it pays to close your FF down periodically because it does tend to hog memory.

Booyah!

Not this addon, I'm across that one and that Greasemonkey was added to Chrome yonks ago - the problem was that some functionality was never supported, I think for security reasons.

I've tried my scripts 4-5 times in the past and they would not work - but I just tried now again with the latest Chrome and they worked like a charm. Going to investigate shifting over because I do prefer Chrome as a lighter weight option.

Funny thing is, everyone who loves firefox and all their plugins are gonna swap to chrome and install all their plugins, slowing down chrome and making firefox look fast again. Then people will be saying firefox and chrome are both shit, buy a mac and enjoy safari: internet as it should be

The version uses the same lists and practically the same code. I'm not sure what you're on about.
