Due to the retarded system IW have implemented that stupid xbox system.

Basically, I need to port forward to play MW3.

I have a Siemens SpeedStream 6250.

I try to connect to my router via my internal ip.
I ran cmd, type in ipconfig and it lists 192.168.254.254 as my internal ip.

I wack that into my address bar and it wont load.
wtf do i do?

It'll be http://192.168.1.254/

You'll also need the username/password of your router, which will probably be on the bottom of it.

So no devices between your pc and the Modem? If http://192.168.254.254/ doesn't work then maybe it has been configured on the non default port. Or if you are lucky maybe the web serving is flaking out and the modem needs to be turned off and on like my Billion does every so often.

Power cycle modem, retry. If that fails, I would usually check that you haven't set up some weird web proxy and then go a modem reset. If you can't configure your own modem, get your ISP to help you.

very odd problem indeed.

what is your exact set up? EG. is it wall phone line to this router, ethernet from this router to PC?

or is something else in between?

if there is anything else in between remove and do the direct set up to your main pc

So this is your modem/router??

http://www.speedguide.net/routers/siemens-speedstream-6520-wireless-dsl-gateway-331

Most certainly should normally be available via http:\\routerip which in your case is as you posted. Did it arrive pre configured? Sounds like your ISP has fucked with the settings. Your only solution is to contact them or erase the memory and set the config up yourself. Fucking easy if you know your username and password to your ADSL connection.

if that fails then 1 option left before I'd buy a new router, go the hard reset. find the button, get your paper clip or pen out, and press that sucker home.

if no access after that, hit up msy or someone and grab something else.

WAIT try telnet first. It works with your router. Download the putty client and attempt to telnet to your routers IP. They must have setup remote management and blocked lan management. Although I didn't k now you could do that.

http://www.putty.org/

download install app.

Run putty.

In the address field put your routers IP.

Try SSH and telnet. The default password when prompoted is username : admin, password: admin. The default port for telnet should be in your routers manual. I will try and find out what it is. Normally 23

I see something that maybe the problem . The dns suffix has 2wire in it. You don't have a 2wire modem. Check your network properties and remove that if its enterered manually. Probably not the issue as that is on your lan interface which isn't in use. http://192.168.254.254 is your modem/router according to your dhcp info. If the modem was from telstra it would come with telstra firmware with a login of 10.0.0.138. Has it had a generic firmware upgrade? That is what changes it to the 192.168.254.254 address usually.

that dns is on another adapter entirely, also you don't use DNS when you use IP. DNS is for domain names. he also used a different computer.

I had an old billion where the GUI interface would crash and you couldn't get to it unless you reboot it.

Try updating firmware if possible outside of the modem, other than that - just isolate the modem on your computer...no internet or anything and try to get to it.

I've never done this on a netgear but it's worth a try anyway, download a copy of the config (backup / export as cfg/txt file or whatevs)

then open that text file in notepad.exe, look for the Nat Type setting - it should be obvious, then change it to something else (try to decipher it from the drop down menu on the admin page) and then upload your config using the "import" functionality

worth a shot
