i think, you should right click on the speaker icon, choose, mmmmmm i'm getting vague here now cause i'm not in front of my pc, choose "devices" then make sure the right default is selected.
still no joy.
been googling and reading forums over and over again.
here's the deal.
i can play black ops. not sure about other games.
sounds are ok.
sound a bit tinny and some critical sounds like reload and lock-on target are non-existent.
i cant hear a think in windows be-it:
youporn...i mean youtube
media player or and other noise making thingos.
i check out realtek options and can watch the noise on the 'equalizer' moving but no sound.
Checked the volume for the application? If you've upgraded from XP, you might not realise Windows 7 has per-application volume settings.
Right-click the speaker icon in the notification area, select "Open Volume Mixer" and check everything is equal like this:
What is the hardware id? Under device manager double click on the device, then go to details and under the down down menu select hardware id. The vendor id and device id will be listed to make the hardware id. eg. 10EC:0892
Windows 8 is bringing back hardware sound, which means they are reworking audio, so hopefully part of that would be allowing different sound sources to go to different devices.
For example I can play rage on my monitor and a movie running on the tv, running smoothly, except the sound can only go out via one device, I'd like to be able to have the game sounds come from the speakers at the computer and the movie coming from the speakers near the tv.
