Audio L&R Channels Reversed

I have Logitech x530 5.1 speakers (old school, I know) and they plugged directly into the motherboard (ASUS P8Z68-V) but for some reason the left and right channels are reversed.

I have tried everything I can think of, including updating drivers etc but nothing seems to work.

I am running Win 7 64bit and the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers:

So If I click on the top left speaker it comes out the top right. The top right comes out the top left. The bottom right comes out bottom left and the bottom left comes out bottom right. The sub and front are both fine.

Does anyone have any idea on how I can flip this? I've been using the same layout for 5+ years so its definitely not a having my speakers backwards thing. Also, I would prefer to not have to physically change my speaker layout

Obvious question, but are you sure they are the right way around?

Haha yea they definitely are, I've had them this way for years now.

I did have this issue at one time in the past and somehow solved it though I have no idea how i did it :(

Also if you do an image search for people using these speakers the speaker with volume control is ALWAYS on the front right - same as mine.

Explain please?

As I said earlier I don't want to (and can't) change my setup (move my left to the right) due to poorly designed cables.

swapping the cable inputs seems the only option. pick up some female/male extensions if cable length is a problem

I have the exact same speakers, wouldnt you just switch over the rca plugs on the back of the subwoofer?

OK had a look at how the cabling is done. The right speaker input comes straight off the motherboard and everything else goes through the sub. When you plug the green to the green on the front panel, do you get the same left and right problems?

This uses a serial connector so I'd have to hunt one down. (DB15 i think from memory) but nevertheless this is simply avoiding the problem, not fixing it so I'd rather not do that.

Just tried this now and they are still reversed. Your front left is the one with the volume control right?

The messed up thing is its been fine for years, I don't understand how its possible.

Strange, If normal headphones are fine then I'd be wondering if your speakers have always been dodgy or maybe the new mobo did some weird auto discover on the jacks and have them around the wrong way.

Thanks for your help but I think I found the issue.

I purchased a couple of female 3.5mm to male 3.5mm extensions as the cables were really stretched to reach, I just removed one of these and it solved the problem. It appears the L&R wires must be reversed in these cheap ass cables. Weird thing is it doesn't affect the sub/front speaker -.-

Gonna slice this cable and try to change the wires and see if it helps.
