Couldn't you just export them from his old PC as an PFX format then just import it?

In the past the only way to do this is for him to call the ATO and they send him new ones.

There's a tool for this called the CSI Management Utility. Let's you export everything & re-import on the new OS cause dealing with the ATO is a total pain & can take weeks (my wife's an accountant). So if it's a new machine you should be able to do this in a matter of minutes on the old PC & earn some goodwill for little effort.

If it's a rebuild over the old OS... well, if the guy didn't mention them pre-rebuild then you can't really be held responsible. Probs worth adding to your rebuild checklist for future though along with things like Outlooks NK2 file.

I found that it was the little things like this that you do that keeps bringing the referrals in.

If it's an ATO Auskey certificate then you should be able to find it in the old profile, I think under vista/win 7 its in Users\%user%\AppData\Roaming\Auskey or something like that. You can just do a straight file copy of the whole directory, the actual certificate is stuffed into a text file somewhere in there, no need for special export/import like with windows certs.
