Firefox 4 - Single Window Mode

...nothing annoys me more than accidentally spawning new windows - that's what tabs are for.

The 'open new windows in tabs' option doesn't always work (?) & right-clicking on a link still gives the option to spawn a new window.

There are several addons that force single window mode, but none of them work for Firefox 4. I've also tried trawling through the about:config but with no luck.

Has anyone had any success?

You don't use the scroll button to open new tabs?

If you have a link where the href is a javascript call to launch a window, scroll click will launch a blank tab in firefox, whereas in chrome it loads the content into that tab.

install the plugin compatibility reporter and it'll allow you to install firefox 3 plugins within firefox 4.

p.s. Chrome is shit.

If you're into opening search links like me in a rush use Snap Links Plus and Tree Style Tab.

p.s., I agree with Whoop on Chrome - doesn't quite suit me due to lack of addons/Greasemonkey support. Don't try and tell me that Chrome supports GM because it's a half-arsed implementation so far.

EDIT: Could be JavaScript opening new windows - you can disallow that somewhere in settings. I hate JS having control over minimising and maximising as well, I always turn that off.
