You have Leopard yeah?

Just go into a folder, hit the Quick Look button and you can hit left/right arrows.

Quick Look doesn't. Just click the first one then hit Quick Look and hit left and right arrows. Not as good as Picture Viewer but hey

again.. sorry.. Iphoto?! You're going on a trip soon i don't see why you wouldn't be getting to know iphoto pretty dammed well before you go.. it'll make it pretty easy to import your photos, bit of basic basic post processing and with either a flickr plugin or something along those lines you can have them up and about the place for the world to see..

Lightroom is another option if you enjoy adobe workflows... if you have leopard you should be using quicklook as described

Anyone know of a simple free program like MS Paint for OS X? That's the only thing that I've found lacking with the Macs.

Skitch does simple annotations stuff nicely.

For photos, erm, iPhoto? Or Picassa if you don't want to pay Apple Tax #4321.

PS. iPhoto 09's integration with Facebook/Flickr is awesome.

Also, Google is your friend

Maxe - I use Xee. Open 1 pic with it & then move through all the others in the same folder using pageup/down...

As for mspaint equivalents, try The Gimp.

try The Gimp.

If you've used Photoshop before, don't try the Gimp! Interface design is NOT one of their strong points...

album view and quicklook give you crappy thumbnail sized views tho

I want to be able see imagines at their full size, thats why i'm opening them. i dont understand how that can be such an odd request that their isn't a simple solution for it right out of the box

anyway ill try iphoto and all that other shit

still dont see why i have to run a whole new program to do this tho

^^^ That's quicklook. Press space, and then use up down left or right to scroll through items. You can then press space to exit quicklook.

So you can't just double-click a picture? What does that do?

That opens preview, which should also be fine.

What if i want to look at the next image in the folder? Launch another Preview? gay.

Are you still running Panther? If so then quicklook etc isn't available to you. Get leopard if you want awesome photo browsing stuff, but yeah, iphoto is the best. iPhoto normally comes free with every mac btw, but seeing your on a powerbook you probably only have an old version of it on the cd.

If you've used Photoshop before, don't try the Gimp! Interface design is NOT one of their strong points...

And thats saying something! Seeing Adobe has the interface design skills of a monkey on speed.

if not it'll be in the 'customize folder' option

with 512meg of RAM that wsa last formatted in like '04?

Fucking lightning

i can see places it could be faster, as now and then the display animations and little tidbits like that are a little jerky, but i havent come across any major problems yet.

that said i havent asked a lot of it
